Don't pussy out

Last night I hung out with some friends for some drinks and music. The music showed up late as hell, so we ended up just talking crap. It came up that last year I didn't go out for Halloween. That shit totally killed my mood, and this is so far the second time it comes up that I didn't go to a fun event. I'm not totally positive what happened with me, but I'm sure I was just in a pissed off mood when I didn't feel like going.

Anyway, thinking back to those (so far) two times that I didn't go out with my friends really hurts. It's especially upsetting when I factor in that I could have been drinking at either event to lighten my mood. When you get invited out, don't be a pussy even if you think you're going to have a bad time. There's drinks to be had! It's also not worth regretting it later. You can always forget about something you did, but you can never remember an event that you never attended.

One more thing... IDE!

I started doing some programming practices today, I'm going to copy out all the programs out of my java book. It got me a better feeling of the IDEs/editors, and so I'm trying to make things a little more efficient for myself. At first I started using nano to edit, and it was okay but it was sort of a pain in the ass to be running the program from command line. Not a huge deal. I jumped over to using Geany which was actually pretty nice. I guess I probably have a few things to tweak but it was fine for a few basic programs.

I'm wondering what sort of development environments other people use. Eclipse and NetBeans are used pretty frequently, but they're both so bloated. My computer has a hard time keeping up. I'm afraid to even touch vim. In the end I'd imagine that it really doesn't matter as long as I'm able to pump out code efficiently and comfortably. I've considered using a programmers dvorak keyboard layout; the biggest difference is the numbers. That's confusing, even though I use the numpad.

Sumo Chairs

I saw these Sumo chairs in a YouTube video. They look awesome but so damn expensive. 400 USD for a beanbag chair, pretty much. One day...!

Bad mood good vid

Today was a crappy day for me, so I ended up moping around the house and napping pretty much all day. Eventually I got on YouTube and started watching random videos of interest (something that I never do due to my craptastic internet connection). Eventually I stumbled across Rocco Botte's channel. For those of you who don't know him, Rocco is one of the masterminds behind a group known as Mega64. Mega64 is known for putting out parody videos of video games portrayed in real life, and have done several shorts for IGN. I strongly recommend checking them out, as well as Rocco's channel. It was just the thing to cheer me up today, as nonsensical and silly as some of the videos are.

Another server, another chapter

So #TaLKiNg has changed servers. Again. How this will turn out I can only imagine. I may pop in from time to time, but Rizon is a whole lot more convenient for me. For those of you who want to check it out, you can visit the new server at irc.maio.me and the channel is still #TaLKiNg.

It's hard staying motivated.

I have a lot of trouble staying motivated to do anything. I don't know if it's depression or lack of discipline or what. Dreams of the future are easy to come by, but often require control over things beyond my reach. I'm just being a little bitch about having responsibility, but oh well. Here's to eventually accepting life as it is, totally random and relatively uncontrollable.
